There has reportedly been an increase in gun sales in the United States, days after the Capitol riot which has received condemnation from different corners.  US publication, TMZ reached out to gun shops in 20 U.S. cities this week and half of them reported a substantial increase in sales of firearms and ammunition since pro-Trump insurrectionists stormed the Capitol Building on January 6. It was further gathered that the clientele has been a pretty even mix of Republicans and Democrats with different businesses reporting different tidbits of interesting info. Paulie's Pistols near New Orleans told the publication that its sales are up 400% this week compared to last week. The Archbishop of Glasgow, Philip Tartaglia, has died after contracting coronavirus, the Catholic Church in Scotland has announced.  The 70-year-old, who had served as leader of Scotland’s largest Catholic community since 2012, tested positive for Covid-19 shortly after Christmas and had been self-isolating at home.  He died on Wednesday, January 13, being the Feast of St Mungo – the patron saint of Glasgow.   In a statement, the Church said: "A statement said: "It is with the greatest sorrow that we announce the death of our Archbishop.   "The Archbishop of Glasgow, Philip Tartaglia, has died suddenly at his home in Glasgow.     Former Military Governor of Imo State, 1975, and Lagos State, 1976, Rear Admiral Ndubisi Kanu(Reted), is dead.  The ex-administrator, a chieftain of the pro-democracy group, the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, was said to have died in the early hours on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at an undisclosed hospital after a brief illness.  The cause of his death is yet to be confirmed. He was aged 78.   

  A distraught father identified as Solomon Akuma, has narrated how his pharmacist son Emmanuel Akuma has been allegedly detained by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja for about nine months.  The senior pastor of Truevine Evangelical Mission based in Delta State, told Premium Times that the police ‘deceived’ him to get his son who is a pharmacist intern with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) arrested on April 2, 2020, in Aba, Abia State. Solomon said his son was arrested for tweeting that he will “pay a Russian sniper to eliminate Buhari and Kyari”, apparently referring to President Muhammadu Buhari and his then Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari who later died of complications attributable to COVID-19 in 2020. Reno Omokri has slammed women for threatening  to close their legs to the members of the Stingy Men Association of Nigeria,  SMAN.  Reno said women equating money from men to sex from women is simply an affirmation of prostitution.  He wrote: "This Stingy Women Association, where slay queens counter the Stingy Men Association, by saying if men, who are not married to them, don’t give them money, they will close their legs, is proof of what I have been teaching all these years. American rapper, YFN Lucci has been declared wanted by the Atlanta Police Department for his alleged role in a shooting that took place last month in the southwest area of Atlanta.  Lucci, 29, real name Rayshawn Bennett, is wanted on charges of murder, aggravated assault, participating in criminal street gang activity, and weapons charges, according to an Atlanta police news release. Two other suspects, Ra’von Boyd, 23, and Leroy Pitts, 17, were arrested in Miami on similar charges for their alleged roles in the murder of 28-year-old James Adams. Adams was found with a gunshot wound to the face on Dec. 10 and later died of his injuries. A second gunshot victim arrived at a nearby fire station; that victim survived his injuries, and investigators determined the shootings were related. The FBI has released photos of a man of interest in relation to the death of a police officer killed in last week’s Capitol riots. Capitol officer Brian Sicknick, 42, tragically lost his life on Thursday, Jan 7, after reportedly being hit over the head with a fire extinguisher during the Capitol riots.   Almost a week after his death, investigators have released a screenshot from a video that shows a rioter throwing a fire extinguisher that hits a Capitol police officer on the head. The Lagos State Government has announced that it will be closing down Third Mainland Bridge for 2 weeks. Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde said no vehicular movement will be allowed on the bridge from 12 midnight on January 15 to 12 midnight, January 29  to allow the completion of rehabilitation and maintenance of the bridge. Oladeinde who announced a shift in the current vehicle diversion point on the Third Mainland Bridge for motorists coming from Oworonshoki to Adekunle or Lagos Island, said that shifting the diversion point on the bridge is to allow the removal, replacement and casting of joint No. 23, in addition to joints 16 and 17 presently being fixed by the contractor.   Following the rising number of confirmed cases in the second wave of COVID19 pandemic, the Anambra state government has shifted the date of resumption of schools from January 18 to 26. The state governor, Willie Obiano, stated this during a broadcast in the state yesterday December 12. He threatened to also shut down markets in the state if residents of the state continue to flout all COVID9 protocols. Three persons lost their lives, while four others sustained injuries on Tuesday, as a container fell on an 18-seater bus at Celica area on Ibadan-Ife expressway, Ibadan. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Oyo State, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, confirmed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ibadan. Chukwurah said that seven people were involved in the accident, while those, who lost their lives – two males and a female, were trapped when the container fell and pushed the bus inside a ditch. She attributed the accident to break failure and loss of control by the driver of the vehicle carrying the container. The sector commander said that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Adeoyo, while two of the injured were taken to a private hospital in Ibadan.   The corps member who stabbed a young man to death in Akwa Ibom has said she did it in self-defence. Princess Odume, the accused person, has been remanded in police custody since Sunday after neighbours caught her trying to jump over a fence after killing the young man.  On Tuesday, the police spokesperson in the state, Odiko Ogbeche-Macdon, said the young man killed by Odume has been duly identified as Japhet Akwaowo.  Ogbeche-Macdon said Odume claimed Akwaowo threatened to kill her upon her refusal to oblige his request to remove her clothes so that he could have s.e.x with her.  He said, "She actually killed the young man identified as Akwaowo Japhet.
