WNBA player and New York Liberty guard star, Layshia Clarendon has undergone a surgery to remove her breasts.  The basketballer who identifies as transgender and nonbinary (uses all pronouns she/her/they/them/he/him), made the announcement on social media on Friday January 29. She reportedly underwent the surgery on January 13 and is recovering well.      Clarendon also expressed hope of the surgical process inspiring trans people. She wrote on Twitter;    "I'm usually not scared to share news publicly but the amount of hate, myths & ignorance actually had me debating sharing this joy. "I had Top Surgery! Joe Biden has spent 10 days in office as the 46th US President and during that time, he has signed over 30 executive orders and reversed some of Trumps controversial policies. And according to Biden, he's just getting started. He took to Instagram and Twitter to mark his first 10 days in office. Sharing a photo of himself, he wrote: "Over the last 10 days, I’ve taken action on: COVID-19, the economy, climate change, racial equity, immigration, health care, LGBTQ+ rights. And I’m just getting started."  

IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has come out to address those who are against the formation of the Eastern Security Network. The Eastern Security Network (ESN) is a regional security force and a paramilitary wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), based in the Igbo part of Nigeria. Upon the formation of the ESN, Kanu stated that the group was necessary to protect Igbo natives and farmers from attacks by Fulani herdsmen.   Some critics have faulted the creation of the security outfit, saying it's just a pretext for a military wing of the IPOB aimed at insurrection and secession, but Kanu and his supporters claim the group is no different from the Islamic police in the North and Amotekun in the South West.   Taking to Twitter on Saturday night, January 30, Kanu stated that anyone who is against the ESN should 'receive sense.'  He wrote; "If you’re against Eastern Security Network, who will stop Fulani herdsmen & their allies in the Ar...

  Beyonce's "rapper cousin" was shot dead at his Texas apartment. Martell Derouen, 34, better known as Kordone, was reportedly found dead in his apartment in San Antonio on Tuesday, Jan 26. According to local reports, Derouen who had a blossoming rap career, was the cousin of the iconic singer Beyoncé.     Cops are now searching for 21-year-old Sasha Skare, who they believe is the prime suspect of the crime, KSAT reported.     The outlet said that there is an active murder warrant out for Skare.   Anyone with information on Skare’s whereabouts is asked to call SAPD’s homicide unit.  

Popular Disc jockey, Babatunde Bello aka DJ Babus, has died of COVID19. He died on Friday morning January 29 after a protracted battle with the disease.   DJ Babus graduated from the University of Baltimore in the United States in 2010 where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems and Technology Management. He worked as Resident DJ at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos between 2014 and 2015 and later Resident DJ at RSVP Restaurant and Lounge. He founded his own company known as Crates and Vinyl Entertainment. The deceased was also the only son to Mrs Nadia Bello, the Proprietor, Belinna Schools, Akoka, Lagos.   The deceased was once Talent Manager at KnightHouse, The Creative Entertainment Company where popular acts like Mo Cheddah, Phenom rose to stardom.   Meanwhile, his friends and colleagues in the industry have taken to social media to express shock over his demise.  

A 21-year-old student of the University of Calabar has died in her sleep and friends are mourning her on Facebook. Ruth Ogar, a 300 Level student of Accounting, was set to get married. Her fiancé, Amber James Asuk took to Facebook to mourn her after her death.     He wrote: "Ruth Ogar I am short of words. I dont even know where to begin. you were not supposed to be the one to die. I am the older one and you were just barely 21. we already made plans for your 22nd birthday. everything just happened so fast. I dont even know what to blame. Ahmad, the embattled president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has been dramatically restored back to his position following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). He was banned by FIFA in November for five years after football's world governing body found him to have breached several of its ethics codes. At that time, the FIFA ethics committee found “Ahmad had breached his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, mismanaged funds and abused his position as the CAF President.” Ahmad, a former government official in Madagascar, was also fined 200,000 Swiss francs ($220,000). The 61-year-old appealed his decision at CAS, which issued a preliminary ruling on Friday January 29. U.S rapper, T.I. and his wife, Tiny, have released a statement in reaction to the allegations of sexual and physical abuse made against them. Earlier this week, Sabrina Peterson alleged that T.I. had put a gun to her head, and Tiny responded to the allegation. This eventually led to Sabrina sharing stories from other alleged victims, who claimed to have been sexually abused by both T.I. and Tiny. T.I. and Tiny have now responded. A statement released to Complex from a spokesperson reads: "Mr. and Mrs. Harris want to be on record and more importantly want the public to know they emphatically deny in the strongest way possible the egregiously appalling allegations being made against them by Sabrina Peterson. The Harrises have had difficulty with this woman for well over a decade. They are taking this matter very seriously."

  Hollywood icon and award-winning actress, Cicely Tyson who distinguished herself in theater, film, and television, has died at the age of 96. According to a statement from her manager, Larry Thompson, she died on Thursday afternoon, January 28.  "With heavy heart, the family of Miss Cicely Tyson announces her peaceful transition this afternoon. At this time, please allow the family their privacy," Thompson said in a statement. “I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing. Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Today she placed the last ornament, a Star, on top of the tree.” The statement did not reveal the cause of death. These women came out after T.I. was called out by Sabrina Peterson who claims T.I. put a gun to her head in front of children.   Two gay men were on Thursday January 28, caned 77 times each after they caught having sex in Indonesia.   Dozens of people witnessed the men, aged 27 and 29, get punished as a team of five enforcers wearing robes and hoods took turns to flog the men.      The men were arrested back in November after residents became suspicious and reported them to Islamic religious police.   A Swiss lawyer has revealed how he helped the Nigerian government recover  billions of dollars stolen by the late General Sabi Abacha. After looting Nigeria's reserves, Abacha who ruled from 1993 until his death in 1998, died before spending his loot, prompting an international treasure hunt that has lasted for decades.  Enrico Monfrini, said he received a phone call in September 1999 from former Nigeria president Olusegun Obasanjo asking if he could help recover the stolen funds.     Monfrini says a high ranking government official was then sent to Geneva by Obasanjo, to recruit him to get hold of the money looted by Abacha.   "He called me in the middle of the night, he asked me if I could come to his hotel, he had something of importance." Larry King’s estranged wife, Shawn Southwick King has said that the TV icon died of sepsis, not his recent battle with coronavirus.   The journalist died last Saturday in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, two weeks after being moved out of intensive care, where he was being treated after testing positive for Covid-19.   In an interview with Entertainment, his widow revealed his cause of death, saying: "It was an infection, it was sepsis. Manchester United duo, Axel Tuanzebe, and Anthony Martial were subjected to racist abuse on social media following their team's 2 - 1 defeat to Sheffield United on Wednesday night.   Iranian football legend, Mehrdad Minavand has died after a brief battle with coronavirus. He was 45.  The former midfielder was hospitalized on January 21 in Tehran after testing positive for the disease and died on Wednesday night, January 27.  Persepolis, where he played and served as a coach, said in a statement that the veteran has "bid adieu to Iran and Persepolis," paying tributes to him. FIFA also issued a statement, saying they are "heartbroken" over the death of Minavand, who helped Iran register its first-ever World Cup victory – 2-1 – against the USA in 1998. The Anambra State Police Command has reportedly arrested controversial prophet, Onyeze Jesus, real name Onyebuchi Okocha, the founder of Children of Light Anointing Ministries located at Nkpor, Idemili North local government area of the state.  This is coming days after the Anambra State Government condemned the 'criminal and indecent' conduct of the prophet after a viral video showed him and his followers in a river, where they bathed naked while he sprayed them with N50 notes. The UK has released a new ‘red-list’ of high risk countries in a bid to keep mutant strains of coronavirus from spreading further. Travellers from the destinations on the red list will have to quarantine for 10 days in Government sanctioned hotels, or other suitable accommodation. Foreign citizens in the red-list countries are already banned from entering the country, while British travellers coming from countries in the red list will be escorted directly from the airport to their rooms, where they will have to pay a bill of around £1,500 for their stay.   Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25 suspected members of the Buccaneer cult group during an initiation ceremony in Abeokuta. The suspects were among 59 others paraded on Wednesday, for rape, kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, fraud, among others.
