  A Nigerian man was on Wednesday, December 8, 2020, stabbed to death by his Afghan roommate in Lisbon, Portugal. Henry Onyekachi, 29, arrived the country some months ago as a refugee and was put in the same room with a 45-year-old Afghan refugee. On Wednesday, Dec 8, they had a clash over house chores and the fact that the suspect was having a negative influence on the other refugees in the apartment. The suspect felt slighted by the confrontation and he later reached for a knife and stabbed Henry in the back. Henry died from excessive loss of blood.     The Afghan has since been arrested.  

  Singers Omah Lay and Tems have been released from Ugandan prisons and are currently in the custody of the Nigerian High Commission in Uganda. The charges against them were dropped earlier today December 15.    

  Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has given reasons why he dethroned former CBN governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi, as the Emir of Kano. Recall that Emir Sanusi's removal was confirmed on March 9, 2020, by Kano State Secretary to the Government Usman Alhaji, who alleged that he disrespected the lawful instructions from the office of the Governor and lawful authorities. The Kano monarch was also accused of persistently refusing to attend official meetings and programmes organized by the government without any lawful justification.   A former adviser to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo accused him of sexual harassment and also that the behavior has been going on for "years." In a series of tweets, the woman, Lindsey Boylan, who worked as deputy secretary for economic development and special adviser to the governor from 2015 to 2018, said Cuomo "sexually harassed me for years." "Many saw it, and watched," Boylan said. She did not name people who could corroborate her claims. "I could never anticipate what to expect: would I be grilled on my work (which was very good) or harassed about my looks. Or would it be both in the same conversation?" said Boylan, a Democrat running to be the Manhattan borough president. She did not provide further details or more specific allegations. Cuomo spokesperson Caitlin Girouard said in a statement to NBC New York, "There is simply no truth to these claims." Boylan further said she has "no interest in talking to journalists....

  Insurgents have attacked Tumur Town, a community in Niger Republic, which houses more than 40,000 refugees from Nigeria, Daily post reports.  The attack on Sunday according to some refugees, who called their relatives in Maiduguri, was very bloody, leaving over 51 people dead and causing many damages of property, including animals. Most of the inhabitants of the town (Tumur) are people from Abadam Local Government Area of Borno state in Nigeria. It could be recalled that a similar incident occurred in mid May this year, which prompted over 2000 households to relocate to Damasak in search of safety and protection. Government officials and international organisations in Damasak told newsmen that the town of Damasak may experience continuation of movement of people from Niger (mass influx) in the coming days.   Prof. Doyin Hassan, a former key actor in Mount Zion Drama Ministries, has lost his wife, Bolanle to the cold hands of death. Evangelist Bolanle Doyin-Hassan died on December 9, 2020 at the age of 57. They met in at Mount Zion Drama Ministries where they were both giving various roles to play and later fell in love and married. The duo have been married for 10 years before the sad incident occurred. Bolanle will be buried on 18 December, 2020 at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, in Ogun State. Bolanle has acted in several Christian movies, especially in Mount Zion movies where she came to the limelight.

Photos of Nigerian singer, Omah Lay being taken to prison after his arrest have been shared online.  While Omah Lay was taken to Kitalya prison, his compatriot and colleague Tems was taken to Kigo prison. It was further learnt that they will be appearing before a Ugandan High Court on Wednesday December 16.  They are being charged with "negligently doing acts likely to spread infectious diseases."   Nigerians are reacting to the video of President Buhari visiting his cows in his ranch in Daura, Katsina state. The President last week embarked on a weeklong visit to his home state. Shortly after his arrival in the state, armed bandits visited the Government Boys Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Government Area and abducted students in their hundreds. Two hundred were first rescued and according to government officials, 333 of the students are still missing. Many Nigerians have condemned the President for not paying a visit to the school and also seeing the parents of the students since he is in the state where the attack happoened. Now, a video of the President visiting his cows on Saturday, December 12, hours after the school attack, has surfaced online. Nigerians are reacting to the video. Many are condemning him for not visiting the distraught parents but making out time to visit his cows.    

  The police in Ogun state have arrested a 51-year-old mother of nine, Ogbonnaya Florence, for allegedly running a baby factory in the state. The suspect was arrested in her hideout after 11 young girls were rescued by the police.  When interrogated, Ogbonnaya denied the allegation. She said she is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission to run a motherless babies home but is yet to get it running as she is currently building the facility to be used.   ''I never went to anybody's house or force anybody. They peacefully come to me to lay their complains. If I can help them, I will tell them okay I will help you. I have never sold any baby or bought any baby from anybody but I have registered motherless babies home, I registered child care, I registered destitute home.   Joe Biden’s presidential victory has been confirmed by Electoral College, meaning he will be the next US president. California, the most populous state in the US, delivered its 55 electoral votes to Mr. Biden on Monday afternoon, officially taking him over the 270 votes needed to secure the White House. When all of the states finish voting, Mr. Biden is expected to lead Mr. Trump 306-232 despite the outgoing president still refusing to accept the outcome, falsely insisting that he won the election. On Sunday, the president tweeted: “Votes cannot be certified. This election is under protest!” The Congress will meet on January 6 to certify the electoral college votes. President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are due to be sworn in at noon on January 20, 2021.
