The acting Director-General (DG) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Alex Akpa has been arrested by the ICPC for allegedly defrauding the federal government of N400 million.  Mr Akpa who is a professor of microbiology, was arrested by operatives of the commission to answer questions on how the said amount was misappropriated under his watch. He is currently being investigated for abuse of office. It was alleged that the Acting DG of NABDA claimed the money he diverted was an intervention fund for the biotechnology agency and he allegedly shared the money with top management staff of the agency. The commission said the offence committed by Akpan whose appointment came in June, is contrary to and punishable under sections 19 and 26 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

  34-year-old Transformers star, Megan Fox has filed for divorce from her estranged husband Brian Austin Green.  TMZ reported that Fox filed the papers in Los Angeles on Wednesday November 25, just after making her red carpet debut with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly at the American Music Awards earlier this week.  The pair separated in May after 10 years of marriage and Megan was soon seen spending time with rapper MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker. Okorie Daniel of Ivo DC and Fabian Ivoke of Echiele DC got the boot just after leaders of Ivo council gathered on Wednesday November 25 in Abakaliki, to endorse the defection of the governor from the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).   A former BBC journalist and his partner were both found dead in the same room at home, an inquest has heard. John Stevenson, 68, was found on the floor near his bed in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, on 12 March this year, a hearing in Pontypridd was told. He worked as a political correspondent for BBC Wales. The two men were discovered when police forced their way into the property after district nurses raised the alarm, the court heard. Neither had any injuries. A post-mortem carried out at the University Hospital of Wales have a provisional cause of death as ‘unascertained’. A full inquest will take place next January.

  A takeaway delivery driver in the UK has been found guilty of raping a woman he lured into his car before carrying out the horrific attack. 52-year-old Naiem Malik Suleman offered the 22-year-old woman a lift in his car after she had split up from her friends on a night out on January 19, 2019. But instead of taking her home, the court heard that he raped her. Later, when she arrived home following the attack in Coventry, she had on a jacket bearing the logo of the delivery firm Suleman worked for. She also had bruising around her neck and scrapes and scratches on her, Warwick Crown Court heard. Suleman, of no fixed address, denied the charge but forensic evidence from her clothes linked him to the rape and he was convicted at Warwick Crown Court.   Napoli are set to rename the San Paolo stadium after the late Diego Maradona.  The Argentina football legend, who was the manager of Argentinian club side Gimnasia passed away aged 60 on Wednesday, November 25th, after suffering a cardiac arrest in his home country.  An autopsy report said he died in his sleep after suffering heart failure, only two weeks after leaving the hospital following surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain.   Medics also detected dilated cardiomyopathy, a medical condition in which the heart muscle becomes weakened and enlarged and cannot pump enough blood to the rest of the body.   A group of final-year students stormed out of their secondary school in eastern Kenya on Wednesday night, saying they were tired of studying. Some 80 students left the Matungulu Boys Secondary School compound, leaving only 36 behind, according to The Standard newspaper. The school principal said the students had discipline issues that were being dealt with. Some of the students told local radio stations that the principal was too strict and they were tired of studying. They said they would prefer to come back just to sit for final examinations scheduled for next year. The principal said parents had been informed and asked to bring back the students. Schools reopened in October for final-year students after being closed because of coronavirus, while other classes will resume in January.   Roch Marc Christian Kabore will serve another five years as Burkina Faso's president after being declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election.  According to provisional results announced by the National Independent Electoral Commission, Kabore won with nearly 58 percent of the vote, beating 12 opponents and claiming victory in the first round. Newton Ahmed Barry, the commission's president said Kabore received 1.6 million votes of the nearly 3 million cast, with voter turnout at 50 percent.Eddie Komboigo, the candidate of a once-ruling party, came second in Sunday’s vote with 15.48 percent of the ballot, followed by Zephirin Diabre, with 12.46 percent.   President Donald Trump is still refusing to concede to Joe Biden and claiming without evidence that he was cheated by widespread election fraud in the US presidential election.  On Tuesday, President-elect Joe Biden's total tally of votes surpassed 80 million, making him the first-ever presidential candidate in United States history to achieve that feat. Currently, the Democrat has 80,063,589 votes to Donald Trump’s 73,904,195. Reacting on Twitter on Thursday November 26, President Trump claimed he just saw the vote tabulations and that there was no way Biden could gather 80,000,000 votes in the presidential election.  He also insisted on previous claims that the election was '100%' rigged. Trump wrote: "Just saw the vote tabulations. There is NO WAY Biden got 80,000,000 votes!!! This was a 100% RIGGED ELECTION." Twitter immediately affixed a label to the tweet warning users that the 'claim about election fraud is disputed.'
