  A US Federal judge on Tuesday denied the Justice Department's bid to end a defamation lawsuit against President Donald Trump brought by a longtime magazine columnist who alleged he raped her in a luxury department store dressing room over two decades ago. The DOJ moved to put itself as defendant in the lawsuit filed by E. Jean Carroll (pictured top right), instead of Donald J. Trump, a move that if it became successful, would have halted the case,  as the US federal government can't be sued for defamation. Carroll, made her allegations in a book saying Trump sexually assaulted her either in 1995 or 1996 but he has denied Carroll's allegations, telling reporters, "She's not my type," and alleging Carroll lied to boost her book sales.   FIFA president, Gianni Infantino has tested positive for COVID-19, football's world governing body said in a statement on Tuesday, October 27.  Infantino, 50, reported mild symptoms and is in self-isolation and will quarantine for at least 10 days, FIFA added. A statement read: "FIFA President Gianni Infantino has received confirmation today that he has tested positive for coronavirus. The FIFA President, who has reported mild symptoms, has immediately placed himself in self-isolation and will remain in quarantine at least for 10 days. "All people who came into contact with the FIFA President during the last few days have been informed accordingly and they are being requested to take the necessary steps. "FIFA sincerely wishes President Infantino a speedy recovery."

    Days after Lagos state government declared a curfew to curb the looting and destruction across the state, the glasses on Obafemi Awolowo’s statue in Ikeja are still missing. Hoodlums had hijacked the #EndSARS protest in the state, unleashing violence on residents and destroying public and private properties. Vehicles, automated teller machines, traffic lights were vandalised, and not even Awolowo’s statue was spared during the looting, as his pair of glasses are yet to be found.

    A serial killer nicknamed 'Lucifer' has been accused of murdering 48 other inmates during his 25 years behind bars. The extent of Marcos Paulo da Silva's violence has earned him comparisons to Britain’s most dangerous prisoner, Charles Bronson. The 42-year-old Brazilian was just 18 when he was first incarcerated for petty theft in 1995 but soon emerged as a vicious killer. He is said to have murdered five inmates in one go in Serra Azul Jail in Sao Paulo in 2011 in one of his most bloodiest attacks to date. His signature is to cut his victims’ heads off and disembowel them after killing them. Da Silva will likely die behind bars after racking up multiple convictions and sentences totalling 217 years - although he has yet to be tried for many of his alleged crimes.     World champion sprinter Christian Coleman has been banned from athletics for two years for anti-doping violations, the Athletics Integrity Unit announced on Tuesday. The American, who won the men’s 100 metres at last year’s world championships in Doha, was provisionally suspended for three ‘whereabouts failures’ in June. World Athletics’ Disciplinary Tribunal upheld the charge and banned Coleman for two years, backdated to 14 May, 2020.

    President Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for a second term in office. This was disclosed in a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Tuesday. President Buhari, in a letter to President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, said: “In accordance with the provision of Section 154 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the nomination of Professor Mahmood Yakubu for appointment as Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a second and final term.” Prof Yakubu was first appointed by President Buhari in November 2015.

  30-year-old Nigerian man, Obinna Emmanuel was allegedly murdered by his Nigerian wife, Oge Abigail, in New Delhi, India after she suspected him of having an affair with another woman.   According to Times of India, police received an information from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital that a patient named Emmanuel with stab wounds had been brought for treatment by his wife but was declared dead on arrival.   By the time cops arrived the hospital, the woman had escaped. Officers, however, tracked her down and questioned her. She told police that they got married in September 2019 but started living separately since August 2020, after differences cropped up between them. However, they had been meeting often even after that. It was gathered that on October 25, Abigail went to meet Emanuel at his residence in Dwarka Mor but found another woman there. The skincare therapist named Favour Grey suffered a gunshot wound to the head, her sister Valentina Grey revealed.     Sharing photos of Favour after she was shot, X-ray of the bullet in her head, and the bullet after it was removed, Valentina wrote:    Meet my kid sister a fighter Girl lived five days with a Bullet in her head, playing Joking and smiling.     A newborn baby wrapped in Ankara fabric was found abandoned inside a church in Obio-Akpor local government area in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. It was gathered that the baby was found dead on Monday, October 26, inside the partially fenced church located at Ozuoba junction along NTA-Mgbuoba Road.  Residents of Ozuoba and Rumuosi communities in Obio-Akpor said the baby reportedly died as result of exposure to cold.

  The Ekiti State police command has confirmed the arrest of 6 people over an arson attack carried out in the state.  The suspects identified as Odeyemi Sina aged 12, Ayomide Akomolafe (13), Alao Emmanuel, Ojuko Tobi, Sunday Salihu, and Kosedake Olamilekan were accused of being part of the hoodlums who burnt down two divisional police stations and the area command office in Ikere-Ekiti when the #EndSARS protest was hijacked.   US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo is under investigation for potentially violating a federal law that forbids federal employees from participating in political activity while on duty or while inside federal owned buildings after he sensationally addressed the Republican Party national convention in August. The Office of the Special Counsel, an independent federal investigative agency, has started a probe into Pompeo's speech to the Republican National Convention while on a taxpayer funded trip to Jerusalem on August 25.     This investigation is the second investigation launched by the special counsel into potential Hatch Act violations by Pompeo, who has been accused of allegedly using State Department resources for personal or political gain.   The n.a.k.e.d body of a Russian scientist was found in her flat with her thumb severed. Russian biochemist Ekaterina Antontseva, 34, was believed to have been strangled or suffocated, say law enforcement sources. Her corpse was discovered by her boyfriend, a construction entrepreneur, on his return from a business trip. A male computer game fanatic identified only as Artyom, 36, has been detained on suspicion of murdering the lecturer who worked at St. Petersburg Technological Institute and part-time as a model. Police found the severed thumb of Ms Antontseva, who taught at St Petersburg State Institute of Technology, at Artyom's home. The suspect allegedly used the fingerprint to gain access to her phone, from which he sent messages saying she was feeling ill and would not come to work.   A pastor in Kogi State, identified as Sunday Edino and his alleged accomplices have been arrested by the Kogi State Police Command for allegedly looting medical equipment worth N1.2billion. This is as the sporadic shooting by masked hoodlums in Lokoja on Monday, 26th October, 2020 has led to the death of no fewer than five persons, while several others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The suspected pastor was arrested on Monday in a manhunt led by the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Ede. It was learnt that the suspects vandalized a warehouse in Lokoja and looted the medical equipment with his car before he was apprehended by the Nigerian Police in the State. When he was interrogated, the suspect could not account for the medical equipment found in his car which he packaged inside his booth and others which he hid inside a nearby bush.  

    A mother has told how people refuse to believe her black toddler and his albino twin brother are really siblings.  Dorian Johnson, from Williamsburg, Virginia, has said that when she’s out in public strangers constantly ask if her African American son, Zavied, is adopted and not hers.  Despite both his parents and his twin brother, Zakari, being black, two-year-old Zavied has snow white skin and golden hair after being born with albinism. But whilst the adorable twins clearly lookalike, their mom, Dorian, 25, has revealed she feels hurt almost everyday when people judge her ‘golden child’ as an adoptee just because of the color of his skin.   Amarjeet Sada became known as the world's youngest serial killer after he killed for the first time at age 7 and continued killing afterwards. He had allegedly killed three people by the age of eight, two of whom were related to him. The young boy from the Begusaray district in Bihar, India was born in 1998. The family, who were extremely poor, eventually moved to Mushahari village where his father worked as a labourer. In 2006 Amarjeet allegedly murdered his six-year-old cousin, his uncle’s daughter. Shortly after, he is believed to have murdered another infant – his own eight-month-old sister.    Some of Amarjeet’s family members and other members of the village were reportedly aware of his crimes, according to his uncle.  However, they were considered “family matters”, and therefore were not reported to authorities.   Some Nigerians have faulted the claim of a woman who alleged that her son, Anthony died after soldiers opened fire on unarmed #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate.  Though the woman's identity is yet to be uncovered after the viral video, it was however gathered that she said her son’s corpse was recovered by his friends. She further stated that she is yet to be visited by government officials.     Hollywood film producer Prince Azim of Brunei has died at the age of 38. The party loving royal, who was fourth in line to throne, died over the capital Bandar Seri Begawan.   AC Milan football club have confirmed that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jens Petter Hauge have both tested positive for Covid-19, after the club's latest round of medical checks. An explosion has torn through a city on Turkey's Mediterranean coast with unconfirmed reports of a suicide bombing. The blast took place in the southeastern Turkish city of Iskenderun in Hatay Province. Footage on Twitter show debris scattered across the street following the explosion.     Police, firefighters and medical teams have all been dispatched to the scene, but no statement has yet been given on casualty figures. The moment of the explosion was captured on an eyewitness' mobile phone.
