    British soldiers have arrested seven Nigerian stowaways, aboard an oil tanker, Nave Andromeda, off England’s south coast. The crew of the vessel were forced to take shelter around 1000GMT and called for help, when they were reportedly threatened by the Nigerians. “In response to a police request, the Defence Secretary and Home Secretary authorised Armed Forces personnel to board a ship in the English Channel… that was subject to suspected hijacking,” the Ministry of Defence posted on Twitter. “Armed forces have gained control of the ship and seven individuals have been detained,” the ministry said, adding that the crew were “safe and well”.  The Nigerians have not been identified. British media said the boat was stormed by the Special Boat Service with 16 personnel boarding the Liberian-registered tanker. The Defence Ministry said police investigations “will now continue”.   The United Nation has raised an alarm of its asset in Calabar, Cross River State capital, being vandalized.  Edward Kallon, UN resident and humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria disclosed this in a tweet he shared which also came with photos of a mob destroying UN vehicles and invading the international agency’s facility in Calabar. Kallon who condemned the attack, added that the vandals were out to discredit the peaceful protests to end police brutality.   He tweeted;    “The United Nations in Nigeria strongly condemns attacks on its assets in Calabar by vandals who were out to discredit the peaceful protests to end police brutality. I call on youths to exercise restraints and engage in dialogue with the Government on their legitimate demands."  

  The Spanish government has declared a second nation-wide state of emergency and ordered a nationwide curfew over a massive coronavirus spike. This comes after Spain became the first European country to record more than a million cases of the virus.  Last Friday, 19,851 cases were reported along with 231 deaths. Some 20,986 positive tests were also confirmed on Thursday.  Spain’s prime minister, Pedro Sánchez on Sunday afternoon said his cabinet had approved a state of emergency that is set to remain in force until 9 May 2021. "The reality is that Europe and Spain are immersed in a second wave of the pandemic," the prime minister said after a meeting with Cabinet colleagues. "We are living in an extreme situation...it is the most serious in the last half-century," he told a news conference.   A man has died following a gas tanker accident in Fadeyi, Lagos State Sanusi Moruff, 28, died on Sunday, October 25, in an accident involving a loaded gas tanker and an empty tanker. Sanusi was trapped in the accident and his body was extricated when the response teams arrived. The corpse has now been handed over to the bereaved family.      The Lagos State Emergency Agency made this known in tweets shared on Monday, October 26.     Brazil icon Ronaldinho confirmed on Sunday that he has tested positive for coronavirus. Ronaldinho posted a video to his Instagram story revealing his diagnosis. The former Barcelona superstar revealed he is asymptomatic and is self-isolating in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, after arriving in the city on Saturday. “I’ve been here in BH since yesterday, I came to participate in an event,” Ronaldinho said. “I took the test and tested positive for COVID-19. I’m fine, asymptomatic, but we’ll have to leave the event for later. Soon we will be there together. Big hug!”

    Nosa Onaghise, a 33 year-old Nigerian residing in Austin, Texas has been sentenced to 51 months in US federal prison for his participation in a conspiracy that laundered more than $1.7 million. Onaghise was sentenced for his role in a conspiracy that laundered more than $1.7 million in Business Email Compromise (BEC) scam proceeds, stolen from multiple companies. He must also pay $1,639,419.57 in restitution, pay a $230,000 money judgment, forfeit $14,282.50 seized from a bank account, and be placed on supervised release for three years, after completing jail term.
