  Dr Erkut Sogut, agent to Arsenal star footballer Mesut Ozil, has slammed the football club over its treatment of his client, after Ozil who earns a staggering £350,000 per week salary was omitted from their Premier league and Europa league squads for the season meaning he is only eligible to play for the club's under-23 team.   After club manager, Mikel Arteta ( pictured top left) omitted the playmaker from his premier league and European squads even though Ozil is under contract until the summer of 2021, Ozil wrote a very emotional letter saying the club has not repaid his loyalty, asking why the club wanted to force him out when he has always given his best to the club.   After Ozil's letter trended on social media, Arteta said he had failed Ozil to which Ozil's agent Sogut has now responded to.   Dr Erkut Sogut  says an “honest explanation” is needed from the Gunners to the fans as to why the World Cup winner has been turned to an outcast. ...

Former San Francisco 49ers player, Dana Stubblefield has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the 2015 rape of a developmentally disabled woman.  The Santa Clara District Attorney's Office said in a statement the 49-year-old was sentenced on Thursday, October 22, by a judge in San Jose after denying a defense motion for a new trial. He was convicted in July following a nine-month trial after a jury found him guilty of rape by force, oral copulation by force, and false imprisonment after having lured the woman to his home with the promise of babysitting work. The jury also found that he used a gun in the assault. A day before the April 2015 assault, Stubblefield contacted the then 31-year-old woman on a baby-sitting website and arranged an interview, prosecutors said.   A mob in Anambra state has set the statue of the pioneer President of Nigeria, the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, on fire in Onitsha. The statue was at Denis Memorial Grammar School Roundabout, Awka Avenue, Onitsha, known as Zik Roundabout. While the mob were on a rampage, they doused the statue with petrol before setting it on fire. As they burnt the statue, the mob were shouting “You put us in this mess by championing one Nigeria,” “You are the cause of our trouble,” amongst other uncomplimentary remarks. In several parts of the country, hoodlums hijacked the #EndSARS protest, causing wanton destruction of lives and properties and forcing different state government's to impose curfew.  

Former Italy, Juventus, China and World Cup-winning boss Marcello Lippi has retired from coaching. Lippi, 72, has been unemployed since resigning as China head coach in November last year following a 2022 World Cup qualifying defeat to Syria. He lasted just six months in the job, his second time coaching China's team. After spells with Atalanta and Napoli, Lippi took charge of Juventus in 1994 helping them to three Serie A titles and the club's last Champions League trophy in 1995-96. Across two stints as Juve coach, and a one-year reign with rivals Inter, Lippi won five Serie A trophies, four Supercoppa Italiana crowns, the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup and Coppa Italia. Governor Godwin Obaseki has extended the ultimatum he gave to prisoners who escaped in the recent jail breaks recorded in two prison facilities in Edo state he governs.  Obaseki who had initially given the fleeing inmates until Friday October 23 to return, extended the ultimatum by one week. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy Crusoe Osagie, it was was gathered that the decision was taken after a security meeting held with heads of security agencies in the state yesterday October 23.    It read;    “The extension of the ultimatum is as a result of the positive response from the prisoners, as a good number of them have since returned to the two correctional facilities.   Shehu Sani, a Human rights activist and pan-Africanist, has appelaed to hoodlums who stole the Staff of Office of Oba of Lagos, to return it. This is coming after Princes from the Ruling house in Lagos asked those who stole it to return it or face the consequences. In reaction to the staff that is still missing, Shehu Sani pleaded with the hoodlums to return it and the Oba's stolen shoe. The actress had shared photos of what is left of her vandalized shop after thugs hijacked the #EndSARS protest and broke into private properties.
