The OAP called the famous singer unprintable names after she spoke out yesterday after the Lekki shootings. Beyonce had said the shootings had left her heartbroken and she will be helping victims.   At least 20 people were killed by armed bandits in Tungar Kwana village in Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara State on Tuesday night, October 20. According to residents who spoke to Premium Times, the gunmen stormed the community around 11pm on motorcycles after blocking the community’s entry and exit points and began to shoot people. Many houses were also burnt during the attack that lasted for several hours. “It was a well planned and coordinated attack; they also stole many livestock and escaped to the forest,” a resident told the pubilcation. The resident alleged that the attack was in retaliation for the massive ongoing onslaught by Nigerian security forces against the armed bandits in their forest enclave.   Barely two days after an angry mob lynched two suspected robbers in Calabar, another suspected robber was killed on Thursday morning, October 22, in the state capital. The latest incident happened at Ikot Ansa bus stop by Four Squared Gospel Church, Murtala Mohammed highway Calabar.   According to online reports, the suspect was caught in the early hours of Thursday morning by angry mob while trying to carry out illegal operation. "There have been lot of breaking into shops, houses, and stealing has been bedeviling the area for a while now.” a witness said.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police have busted a major gang by arresting 14 persons including a Nigerian national Zubi Udoko, for allegedly operating a drug racket in Pune and Mumbai, India.   The police accused the suspects of producing drugs at a factory in Ranjangaon MIDC and selling them in various markets. Police have since seized Mephedrone (MD) drugs worth Rs 20 crores, other material worth Rs 90 lakh and also properties worth Rs 75 Lakh.   Confirming the arrest on Wednesday, October 21, while addressing a press conference, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, said that the accused persons were also in the process of setting up another factory in Palghar district.   Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has ordered the immediate closure of all schools in Delta State until November. He also imposed a 48-hour curfew in the state starting from 6 pm today, October 22. Governor Okowa made this announcement in a state-wide broadcast today. He explained that he imposed the curfew as a result of the violence going on in the country. He said: "This SARS occasion threatens to plunge the State into chaos and anarchy. It is a clear and present danger that we must stop from happening. "In the meantime, I have ordered the closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools in the State until Monday, November 2nd 2020. "Because of the incident that took place last night, I hereby impose a 48-hour curfew starting 6 pm today October 22 2020.   Former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo is currently trending on Twitter after coming out of hiding.  Tompolo, who led the disbanded Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), went into hiding after President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn-in in 2015.  In 2016, the government declared him wanted for ignoring two bench warrants issued against him by the  Federal High Court in Lagos, where he was charged with N45.9bn fraud.  Three years later, the court dismissed all the charges against Global West Vessel Specialist Limited, a company linked to the former Niger Delta militant leader. Despite the court decision to drop the charges, Tompolo still remained in hiding until October 19, 2020, when he made an appearance at the Egbesu Shrine in his Oporoza country home in Gbaramatu, Delta State. The Bishop of the Catholic diocese of Sokoto, Mathew Kukah has also joined other Nigerians in expressing concern with President Buhari's continous silence over the Lekki Toll Gate shooting.  The cleric who featured in a Channels Television programme on Wednesday October 21, stated that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo's apology over the shooting was to compensate for the president’ silence. Kukah averred that there is no reason for the President's continous silence as he pointed out that youths are risking their lives to fight for their rights. He added that the only way out is for the President to “let them know someone feels their pain.”   He said;    “I really cannot understand this. I feel totally helpless in the sense that I cannot find any reason and I don’t think any Nigerian in the right frame of mind can find a reason to why the president has remained so silent on this crisis."

The UK government has announced the closure of its visa application centres in Nigeria following the violence that has trailed the #EndSARS protest.  In a statement released on Wednesday October 21, it was gathered that the centres will be closed for a minimum of 48 hours. Applicants with booked appointments have been asked to reschedule their appointment till next week.    The statement read;     ‘Important: Closure of our Visa application centre’ on its website said the centres will be closed for 48 hours “at a minimum”. “Due to the ongoing protest in Nigeria and for the safety of both staff and applicants, our Nigeria centres will be closed for 48 hours at a minimum. “For applicants with booked appointments within this period, please you will need to reschedule your appointment for next week, from 26th October 2020. “We will continue to post regular updates on this page, so please keep checking back for the late...

  2Face has slammed his former bandmate, Blackface for saying he never spoke up during the PDP administration.    This came after 2Face called for a total shutdown of activities in Nigeria iin support of the widespread #EndSARS protest.      However reacting to this, Blackface took a swipe at 2Face who according to him never spoke up during the People's Democratic Party (PDP) administration even though things were allegedly worse then.    Firing back at him, 2Face described his former bandmate as an "idiot".   Governor Nyesom Wike has imposed a 24-hour curfew in some parts of Rivers state.    The entire Oyigbo local government area, Mile 1, Mile 2, Emenike, Ikowu and Iloaubuchi areas of Port Harcourt local government, as well as Oil Mill area of Obio-Akpor local government are the areas affected by the curfew.  In a statement issued by Governor Wike’s media aide Kelvin Ebiri, it was gathered that the curfew will be effective from 6:30 p.m on Wednesday, October 21.  Wike who directed security agencies to enforce the curfew, said the government will not allow troublemakers take laws into their hands and use the current situation to create a state of panic and insecurity.   The statement read;    “A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Mile 1, Mile 2, Emenike, Ikokwu and Iloaubuchi areas of Port Harcourt from 6.30 p.m. today 21st October 2020. “A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on the entire Oyigbo Local Governmen...

Governor David Umahi has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Ebonyi state which became effective from 7pm on Wednesday October 21.  The Governor who condemned the attacks on police stations and the destruction of government infrastructures, stated that the peaceful protest by the youths have been infiltrated by hoodlums and cultists.  Umahi noted that security operatives in the state have sustained injuries from the attacks, and also called on the security agencies to block all the borders of the state in order to protect lives and properties.

Supermodel, Naomi Campbell has reacted after being called a “culture vulture” by singer Davido’s manager, Asa Asika.  Earlier today, Asa Asika took to Twitter to call out Beyoncé and Naomi Campbell for taking too long to speak up about the #EndSARS campaign until it became bloody.  In his tweet, he described the superstars as "culture vultures," while noting that both Beyonce and Naomi Campbell would have hurriedly shown concern if it was beneficial to them.  Reacting to the tweet, Noami Campbell said she's loved the African continent since her first visit in 1993, and will continue to do all she can to extend her support.    See their exchange below.

  A 19-year-old girl, Shalewa Adebowale, who was declared missing on October 11, has been found dead. The victim went missing while on her way home from her cousin’s house in the Igando area of the state. The victim’s sister, Feyikemi, who insisted that Shalewa was a student of the Lagos State Polytechnic, told Punch that she went to sit the entrance examination of the Lagos School of Nursing, Igando, as she wanted to cross over to the institution. Feyikemi said that her sister called to tell the family that she finished taking her papers later than she expected and would spend the night at her cousin’s place. The deceased’s mother, Mrs Adebowale, confirmed to Punch that Shalewa had passed away and her body was found at the back of a school in Badagry. “Shalewa did not make it. Her body was found at the back of a school in Badagry,” she said.

  Odion Ighalo's wife, Sonia Ighalo has debunked the news that their Lekki home was attacked yesterday. News went round partly on social media yesterday that the Nigerian International footballer and famous singer Burna Boy's homes were touched by angry mob. The two super stars have openly condemned the way the government treated peaceful protesters in Lekki on Tuesday. Ighalo had called on the UN to intervene while saying he is ashamed of our leaders and tired of them.  Burna Boy also started a petition asking the the UK authorities get involved. Many were however shocked when the news went round yesterday. But Sonia reacting to the news via her insta-story, debunked the news and said it was false and fake news is not what the country needs at the moment.

  Former United States President, Bill Clinton, has expressed concerns over the reports of shootings of protesters in the Lekki area of Lagos State. He has, therefore, called on the Federal Government to dialogue with the #EndSARS protesters. Clinton made his position known in a message he posted on his Twitter handle, @BillClinton, on Wednesday. “I am deeply concerned over reports of violence in Lagos and urge the Nigerian government to engage in peaceful dialogue with the #EndSARS protestors for police reform and an end to corruption,” he wrote. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had said one of the victims of the attack died whilst receiving treatment at a Lagos hospital on Wednesday morning but eyewitnesses claimed more than seven lives were lost in Tuesday’s attack. Also, he said about 30 other injured youths are currently responding to treatment at various hospitals in the Lekki area.
