  The Chinese economy has grown as much as 4.9% in the last quarter of 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic that has ravaged all countries of the world.   China expanded 4.9% in the July-to-September quarter compared to the same time frame in 2019, according to government statistics released Monday by the Chinese Ministry of Finance.   The growth is much significant than the 3.2% increase that China recorded in the second quarter, when it managed to avoid recession caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. "China's economy continued its rapid rebound last quarter, with the recovery broadening out and becoming less reliant on investment-led stimulus," wrote Julian Evans-Pritchard, senior China economist for Capital Economics, in a research note. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the United States' leading infectious disease expert has said he is "absolutely not" surprised President Donald Trump contracted Covid-19 after seeing him surrounded by people not wearing face masks and flouting best public health practices during rallies and meetings with aides. Fauci, who has gone at odds with Trump regarding the coronavirus pandemic, spoke during an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" that aired Sunday night. A Lagos State polytechnic student, Shalewa Adebowale has gone missing shortly after calling her father on the phone to ask for help.   It was gathered that the 19-year-old nursing student left her parents’ house at Olorulogbo, Anthony village, Lagos, on October 10, 2020, to sit for an exam. She reportedly decided to spend the night at a cousin's house in Igando after the exam ended late Shalewa left the cousin's house on October 11, to board a bus at Checkpoint bus stop, LASU Road, en route to Iyana Ipaja. Her whereabouts had been unknown since then. Speaking to   her sister, Feyikemi said that the last time they heard from her was around 7.09pm on October 11, when she called their father asking for help. Former Liverpool goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet has tested positive for coronavirus. The Belgian stopper is one of four Club Bruges staff members who returned positive test results after the club carried out massive testing ahead of their Champions League clash with Zenit Saint Petersburg on Tuesday, October 20.  Players Odilon Kossounou, Michael Krmencik, and CEO Vincent Mannaert are the other three people to test positive.   The Ogun State Police Command has declared a suspected notorious cultist, identified as Bobo, wanted for allegedly killing an automobile mechanic, Salaudeen Lawal (pictured) Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, October 18, said the suspect, who terrorises Igbesa and its environs in Ado-Odo Ota, stabbed the deceased also known as Tansho Lawal, with a bottle during an altercation.   "Lawal Salaudeen was invited to fix a vehicle which had a mechanical fault. While he  was rectifying the fault, a  notorious cultist popularly  known as Bobo, accused the mechanic of obstructing the road with the vehicle he was working on.   Nigerians have taken to Instagram and Twitter to react to the prison break which occurred in a prison popularly known as “White House” in Edo State. Earlier today, videos of prisoners trooping out of a prison was shared online and it was claimed thugs hijacked the End SARS protests and released prisoners in Edo State. Following the jail break, the state government  imposed a dusk to dawn curfew.   However, Nigerians suspect something fishy about the jail break and they've taken to different social media platforms to share their opinions. Some accused the state government of staging the jail break to get End SARS protesters off the streets. Others asked how the prisoners left through the open gates without resistance from prison guards. Others pointed out that the prisoners were all dressed in mufti, not in prison uniforms, as though it had been planned.   Actor Yul Edochie has called for the resignation of President Buhari. He made the call via his Twitter handle on Monday afternoon, October 19. According to Yul, President Buhari was very vocal during the Goodluck Jonathan administration and called for the resignation of the former President on the basis of poor performance.   A 13-year-old boy died on Monday, October 19, after falling off a moving truck during the #EndSARS protest in Sapele, Delta State.   According to a witness, the young boy reportedly jumped on the back of the moving truck that was headed out of Sapele, fell off and died of injuries sustained.   “He jumped on a moving truck that was heading outside town and the next thing was that he fell from the back of the moving truck and before we could rush him to the clinic, he died,” a witness narrated. The corpse of the teenager was wrapped in the Nigeria green-white-green flag and put on the back of the open truck for display at the Amukpe area of Sapele. The tragedy was said to have caused a massive traffic gridlock to and from Benin and Warri.    

  A mum, accused of killing her own three-year-old daughter by attacking her with a hammer, is in a critical condition in hospital after trying to take her own life. Natalia Petunina is said to have attacked little Lisa after taking an overdose of antidepressants while they were alone at their apartment in the town of Kirovgrad, Russia on Friday. The child was found lying in a pool of blood by her father, Vladimir, minutes after her horrific death, the local prosecutors office said. The shocked man, who came home from work to have lunch, immediately called an ambulance. Paramedics arrived and announced the girl was already dead before reporting her violent death to the police. Forensic experts said the child died after being hit multiple times with a hammer on her head. Petunina, who tried to kill herself at the scene, was rushed to hospital where doctors are battling for her life. The Edo State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew across the state until further notice. The curfew is to take effect from 4pm, October 19, 2020. This was contained in a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, on Monday. The statement read in part, “This decision has become necessary because of the very disturbing incidents of vandalism and attacks on private individuals and institutions by hoodlums in the guise of #ENDSARS protesters. “While the government of Edo State respects the rights of its citizens to undertake legitimate protests, it cannot sit idly when hoodlums have taken laws into their hands to cause mayhem on innocent citizens and the state. “By the directive, schools and businesses are to shut down activities accordingly. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that there were attempts to breach its website. Anonymous, a legion of hackers, had claimed responsibility for hitting the agency’s internet platform. The group also tempered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) website and threatened to target more. The anonymous group say their actions are in support of the EndSARS protests in the country. EFCC, however, assured that its website was not hacked. On Monday, Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC Head of Media, noted that the compromise efforts were recorded over the weekend. The spokesman blamed “cybercriminals” for a near breach of its privacy. Uwujaren said the attempts were successfully repelled and that the website “is up and running”.
