Some End SARS protesters in Abuja arrived at the protest location with fierce dogs and this reportedly deterred thugs who tried to attack them today. A protester shared photos of dogs at Unity Fountain, Abuja, and wrote: "2 buses of thugs came to the Unity Fountain this morning. They turned and left when they saw our security arrangements. Lemme show y'all what some people brought here.#EndSARS."    

Unknown gunmen killed a 38-year-old old lecturer of the Geophysiscs Department, Federal University of Birnin, Kebbi State. It was gathered that Abdullahi Abubakar Dakingari, was killed in Abuja where he had gone to see his ailing father, who is on admission in the hospital.. An uncle to the deceased, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Friday, October 16, said the deceased was killed at Life Camp Quarters in the FCT around 10:30 pm on Wednesday, October 14 after he got trapped during a shooting spree. The late Dakingari, had since been buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown. He left behind a wife and one child.    

Davido took to Twitter to point out that the Nigerian president has only addressed citizens once since the End SARS protests began. The singer tweeted: "Our president has only addressed us once in the past 10 days ... despite everything that is going on."     He added: "This is the problem. They don’t feel like they owe us enough. That they owe us explanations enough. That our unhappiness shouldn’t cost them their sleep!!! It all goes back to our votes and the fact they feel we ate not responsible for them being in these positions !! (sic).   "We need #ElectoralReform for these leaders to truly understand this accountability we are asking for is our right!!!"    

  The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has denied the report that it suspended its seven-month old ongoing strike, after meeting Federal Government on Thursday. According to the union, the said report is a blatant falsehood. The union said its negotiations with the federal government officials over all their differences with a view to finding a workable solution for normalcy to return to the nation’s public university were still ongoing in Abuja, the federal capital territory. In addition, the union said reports on social media platforms that the Federal Government had released N30 billion for Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) is not also true and therefore should be disregarded by the public. The Lagos zonal coordinator of ASUU, who is a lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Profesor Olusiji Sowande, told Nigerian Tribune that he was not aware of such strike suspension, noting that suspension or calling off of industrial action ...

Former Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Dolapo Badmus, has described the reports of her demotion as fake news. Reports had emerged on Saturday that Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Abayomi Shogunle and Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Dolapo Badmus have been demoted. Reacting on her Twitter page, Badmus said the reports were fake. She tweeted, “Ignore Fake News. “Whoever slotted my name in that list is a joker. I will forever respect people’s human rights, my name will never be put up as one who has violated another’s right.”

Young Nigerians protesting against police brutality (ENDSARS), today blocked major entry points into Abuja. The demonstrators have occupied the Kubwa and Mararaba highways and rendered all roads within the city centre impassable. The youth divided themselves into groups to carry out the protest simultaneously at different locations and this has led to traffic snarls across the city. Unfortunate, but ENDSARS now!
