  A West Ham United supporter has been banned from attending matches for three years after he pleaded guilty to racially abusing Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah. Bradley Thumwood, 48, was handed the ban after appearing at Thames Magistrates' Court on Tuesday following an incident during West Ham's 2-0 defeat by Liverpool at the London Stadium on January 29. In a video that was captured during the Premier League encounter, a male voice can be heard shouting: “Salah you f****** Muslim. F****** Muslim c***. F*** off.” Thumwood pleaded guilty to a racially aggravated Section 5 public order, and he was also fined £400 on top of the football stadium ban.   The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has kicked against the decision of Intels Services Nigeria Limited, a firm partly owned by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar to lay off 600 workers. Those affected included workers in Rivers and Warri operational areas of the company. MWUN stated the company also recently declared 30 workers redundant in Onne Port. In a letter addressed to the Managing Director of Intels Services Nigeria Limited, the Secretary General of MWUN, Comrade Felix Akingboye, described the decision to sack the workers as “unlawful.” The letter was copied to the Managing Director –  Nigerian Ports Authority; President –  Nigeria Labour Congress; Commissioner of Police, Eastern Port Police Command, Port Harcourt; Executive Director  –  Marine and Operations (NPA); DSS Port Harcourt, Rivers State. France on Wednesday October 14, became the latest European nation to enforce a month-long night-time curfew in Paris and eight other major cities and towns aimed at fighting the Coronavirus ‘second wave.’ This strict State of Emergency measure is also applied to Lille, Rouen, Saint-Etienne, Toulouse, Lyon, Grenoble, Aix-en-Provence and Montpellier. The capital will now shut down for nine hours from 9pm until 6am, in a bid to stop the disease circulating, said President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday.   Nine suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital by some operatives of the Economic and Financial crimes commission.  The suspects who were arrested during an early morning raid at their hideout at Aaya Camp on Wednesday Cctober 14, have been identified as Tobi Idowu; Gbeminiyi Samuel; Adekunle Gafar; Wusu Taiwo; Agbabaidan Idris; Olaiya Olamide; Adediran Rotimi; Ikegbuka Junior and Ridwan Garuba. They are said to be between the ages of 21 and 31. The anti-graft further disclosed that they were arrested following sustained surveillance and intelligence on suspected cyber crime activities in the spot. Items recovered from them include two cars, laptops, phones, internet routers and automated teller machine (ATM) cards. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.    

  A tragic incident was recorded at the Eket Divisional Police barracks in Akwa Ibom state, as three children of police officers drowned in a open pit filled with floodwater.  The children said to be between the ages of 5 and 10 had gone to play in the open pit at about 5pm on Tuesday October 13, when the tragic incident occurred.     In a bizarre case of sexual abuse, a 13-year-old girl on Wednesday, revealed that his aunt’s husband, who she calls ‘Daddy’, would play adult videos for her to watch then sleep with her. She said he had been abusing her sexually in his shop and at their apartment on Surulere Street, Ojo area of Lagos state with a threat to kill her if she tells anyone. The revelation followed the arrest of the 48-year-old suspect, Mr. Charles Ekwe, whom the victim refers to as ‘Daddy’, by the gender-based unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Monday.     The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six of the hoodlums who attacked innocent Lagosians and damaged some vehicles along Ondo Street, Ebutte-Meta area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Tuesday. A statement issued by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday, said at about 9.30pm on Tuesday, the hoodlums trooped out in numbers and started fomenting troubles in the area, but the police, while responding to distress calls from innocent people, chased and arrested some of them. The suspected hoodlums are: Qudus Oke, 22; Abdullahi Ajose, 25; Kayi Ajayi, 33; Micheal Ben, 27; Godwin Joseph, 25 and Oluwasegun Akinlade, 29.     Barron Trump, the 14 year old son of Melania Trump and US President Donald Trump, was also hit by COVID-19. Melania Trump revealed this on Wednesday, but added that the boy was asymptomatic. In a letter the American First Lady shared on Twitter, she said her son initially tested negative, but her “fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive.” Melania Trump also said that Barron has since tested negative for the deadly virus. “Luckily he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms. In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together.” The 50 year-old Melania also gave an insight into how she coped with the virus.
