The Bauchi state police command has confirmed the arrest of 3 men who abducted a 14-year-old girl, locked her in a room and repeatedly raped her.  The suspects identified as Usman Adamu, 20, Adamu Muhammad, 21, Nura Musa, 20, and Khalid Abdullahi now at large are all from Nasarawa area in Misau, Bauchi. Bauchi police spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said the suspects kept the victim in a house located at the Nasarawa area for almost a month were they all allegdly raped her.   The police in Anambra state have arrested five members of a child stealing/trafficking syndicate operating in the state and rescued eight stolen children suspected to have been stolen from different states including a fifteen-year-old pregnant girl.     In a statement released today September 15, Haruna Mohammed, the spokesperson of the state police command, said on Sunday, September 13, police detectives attached to Onitsha Area Command received an intelligence report on the illicit activities of members of the syndicate.   The Redeemed Christian Church of God says it is investigating a pastor who was accused of sexual assault by a former basketball player. Beatrice Wealth took to Twitter on September 11 to claim she was sexually abused by the church’s Director of Sport, Pastor Paul Bankole, in his office in 2016. Wealth, who represented the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, in basketball competitions, said she was only 20 years old at the time.   A 25-year-old man drowned while bathing in a river at Zangon Buhari in Bunkere Local Government Area of Kano State on Tuesday, September 15. The Public Relations Officer , Kano State Fire Service, Saidu Mohammed, who made this known in a statement said the incident happened on Tuesday morning. "We received a distress call from Zangon Buhari in Bunkure local government at 06:30 am hours through Malam Muhammad Mai Anguwa," "In response to the call we sent our rescue team with equipments to the scene of incident and discovered it was a man of about 25 years drowned into a pond. The victim was pulled out unconscious and confirmed dead. His corpse was handed over to ward head of Zangon Buhari on behalf of his families"  

 

  The UK government is set to allow fans return to watch live sport next month amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a letter written to a Conservative MP from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, the number permitted now is set to be heavily reduced to around 1,000 - 2,500 instead of the initial plans for up to 30 percent of a venue.  Nigel Huddleston of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport wrote to fellow Conservative MP and former Sports Minister Tracey Crouch to underline the plan to continue to open sporting events for a small number of spectators from October 1.   An Abuja-Kaduna train reportedly suffered a bandit attack on Monday September 14.  Some social media users who shared the story, said the attack went on for 20 minutes before the security operatives on the train repelled the attack.  Facebook user Hassan Mohammed wrote;    BRAZEN Vs. BRAVE My colleagues were met with shock of their lives today as bandits brazenly attacked and opened fire on the Abuja-Kaduna train. They said, the fight went on for 20 minutes.   A wicked father could face the death penalty if he is convicted of punching his pregnant wife so hard the couple’s newborn son died at 38 days old. Christopher Hundley, 32 was warned on Monday that he could be put to death over the killing of his baby son Adriel Hundley, who died in a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 11. The man has already been charged with reckless murder of his son who died from injuries that he sustained in the womb, Montgomery Advertiser reported. Police said that Hundley allegedly punched his heavily pregnant wife in the stomach during an outburst of domestic violence at their home in Prattville, Alabama, on July 4.   The Presidential Taskforce PTF on COVID-19 has raised an alarm that some International travelers who are COVID-19 positive, are coming into the country with fake COVID-19 PCR negative results. Recall that the Federal government announced that one of the protocols to be obeyed as the international airspace reopens is for all inbound passengers to undergo a COVID0-19 test 72 hours before arriving Nigeria and that the result must be negative.  However, the National Co-Ordinator of the PTF, Dr Sani Aliyu, today said fraudulent activities have been noticed in some of the test results presented on arrival. According to Sani, some travellers arrived in the country with negative COVID-19 test results but were later discovered to be COVID-19 positive.
