  The police in Ogun Police Command have arrested Mathew Adebayo, a teacher in a private secondary school, for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old- student of the school. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the 26-year-old teacher was apprehended after the proprietress of the school reported to Sango-Ota Police Station that she was informed by one of the female SS3 students Adebayo had repeatedly raped her since the resumption of the school in preparation for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination. According to Oyeyemi, the proprietor further said ”The teacher intimidated the victim by telling her that she would not pass her examination, if she didn’t allow him have sex with her.   Wrestling star and actor, Stevie Lee Richardson has sadly passed away at the age of 54.  The former TNA Wrestling star who was best known in the ring as Puppet The Psycho Dwarf   died ‘unexpectedly’ this week. The cause of his death wasn't revealed.  A statement on his GoFundMe reads: ‘Steve “Puppet The Psycho Dwarf” Lee Richardson unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his home in the morning. ‘He was beloved by many and has many friends that were family, fans that adored him, but only his brother Jim left to take care of final arrangements.' Paul Pogba has returned to training with Manchester United after recovering from Coronavirus. The 27-year-old French midfielder and his wife Maria Zulay tested positive for COVID-19 last month, but has now reported back to United's Carrington training ground ahead of the new season.  It is unclear if Pogba will travel to Villa Park with the rest of the squad this weekend for their friendly match against Aston Villa on Saturday September 12. The former Juventus striker missed out on international duty with France in their Nations League wins over Sweden and Croatia after he tested positive for COVID-19.

  Prof. Florence Obi has been appointed as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar.  The one-time deputy Vice-Chancellor of the institution emerged victorious over twelve others who were eminently qualified as well. Chairman of the University Governing Council and the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu who made the announcement said the governing council was guided by the guidelines for the screening of a vice-chancellor as provided by the federal ministry of education and the screening exercise was transparent, free and fair to all participants. It was also gathered that Obi contested for the same position in 2015 but lost. She is expected to resume duty on December 1,  2020.

  Operatives of the Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested two music producers and four others over their alleged involvement in cybercrimes in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The music producers are John Obot and Odok Valentine. While others are; Emdiong Iwoenang, Christian Alvan Okechukwu, Innocent Japhet and Edem Uwana. They were arrested recently at their apartment located on 3 Ring Road, off Shelter Afrique, Uyo. Items recovered from them, at the point of arrest, are: five laptops; 11 mobile phones; one grey -coloured Mazda 3, a black- coloured Lexus ES 350 and a silver- coloured Toyota Camry car. Forensic analyses of the 5 laptops and 11 phones recovered from them, revealed evidences of their various levels of involvement in cyber crimes.   A final year student of Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria, Isaac Thomas, 24, was brutally murdered by supected Fulani miltia in Atakmawei, Zamandabo ward, in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area (LGA) in Southern Kaduna. National Public Relations Officer of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Mr. Luka Binniyat, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, September 11, said the Fulani militia laid ambush for Isaac, his brother Anthony Magaji and one other person, on the way to their sugar cane farm. "The Fulani militia on the 8th September, 2020 lay ambush for three Atyap youths from Atakmawei in same Zamandabo Ward in Atyap Chiefdom, as they went to clear weed in their sugar cane farm about a kilometer from their village," the statement reads. “Suddenly, armed herdsmen came from hiding and struck.   At least 2 people have died after a plane crashed in Los Angeles on Friday, September 11. The single-engine airplane crashed into a parking lot between two buildings at 7011 Hayvenhurst Avenue, Van Nuys, California.  The impact of the collision started a fire in the parking lot. Emergency Medical Services, EMS, arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and the area was cordoned off.
