Nollywood actress, Belinda Effah has lashed out at Nigerians over what she termed as "misplaced priorities".  In her Instagram post, the actress stated that the country won't move forward until Nigerians place their interest in the right place.  Effah added that it is sad Nigerians respond better when they are treated like animals. Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has blamed British colonizers for the current travails of Nigeria as a country.   The actor who said this in a tweet which served as a response to Actress Uche Jombo's question of "who cursed Nigeria", averred that the country was structured to never work. Yul stated that the aim of such structuralization is for Nigerians to keep misunderstanding and fighting each other, making little progress and depending on their colonizers for everything.   He added that same thing was done in African countries which underwent colonization. The actor tweeted;    Oyibo people! They structured it in such a way that it will never work. So we'll keep misunderstanding and fighting each other, making little progress and depending on them for everything. Same thing they did in many other African countries. Africa needs to wake up.    

  David and Victoria Beckham reportedly tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this year after partying in Los Angeles.   Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, has been taken out of a medically induced coma and is now responsive to treatment, the German hospital where he is being treated said in a statement on Monday, September 7.    "Navalny is being weaned off mechanical ventilation" and "is responding to verbal stimuli," Berlin's Charité Hospital said.  "It remains too early to gauge the potential long-term effects of his severe poisoning," the hospital added. Navalny  who is Russia's president, Vladmir Putin's most vocal critic, became sick from suspected poisoning on a flight to Moscow from the Siberian city of Tomsk on August 20. According to the German government, tests on Navalny showed "unequivocal evidence" of the use of a chemical nerve agent from the Soviet-era Novichok group. The international community has blasted Russia over the alleged poisoning, but the Kremlin has remained defiant and denied any role in the incident. ...

Lionel Messi has returned to training with Barcelona for the first time since asking to leave the club following his fallout with the board over his future.  The 33-year-old Argentine superstar was pictured on Monday afternoon, September 7, arriving at the Joan Gamper Ciutat Esportiva after agreeing to stay with the club.  Messi had wanted to activate a clause that would allow him opt out of his contract, but the club insisted the time had passed for the clause to be activated and that the player would need to pay the €700m release clause in his contract if another club wanted to sign him this summer. Following a meeting between his father and the club, the playmaker reversed his decision and committed his future to Barcelona, saying he could never go to court against the Spanish giants to secure a move.  

  President Buhari has raised an alarm over the decline in the country's revenue amid the Coronavirus pandemic.  Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who delivered President Buhari's remark at the start of the first-year Ministerial performance review retreat holding in Abuja on Monday September 7, said his administration adopted a N2.3 trillion economic sustainability plan to mitigate the effect of the economic slowdown.   The Abuja zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), has arrested three suspected internet fraudsters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for their alleged involvement in romance scam, identity theft and other internet-related fraud.    According to a statement released by the EFCC, the suspects namely Ajayiton Harry (27), Okoro Daniel (28) and Oziegbe Precious Ehijele (27), were arrested in their hideout in Flat G2, Plot 334, Dawaki, behind News Engineering, Abuja, following intelligence volunteered by concerned citizens in the area. Items recovered from the suspects include two Lexus R350 SUV, three laptops and expensive phones. The antigraft agency says they will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

    The Ondo state police command has reportedly confirmed the death of three people as a result of the broken dam holding toxic substances produced by a Chinese company operating in Omotosho forest reserve in Okitipupa, Ondo State.   The Chinese company which engages in cassava to ethanol production in the area have been identified as 'Wewood' and the late victims have also been identified as Akinmusire Monday (35), Samuel Louis (45) and Ododolewa Adebowale (19). They died after going into the forest to extract timber for saw millers. Ondo police spokesperson, Tee Leo-Ikoro confirmed the deaths and also disclosed that the victims died due to the overflow of a mini dam created by the company. He told Premium Times that the toxic waste from the dam flowed down the slope and killed the unsuspecting lumberers in the forest.   France and Paris Saint-Germain striker, Kylian Mbappe has tested positive for Coronavirus.  The French FA confirmed his diagnosis in a statement on Monday September 7, saying the 21-year-old is asymptomatic and has also been ruled out of France's match against Croatia on Tuesday night after returning a positive test result. "Kylian Mbappe will not participate in France versus Croatia on Tuesday evening at 20:45CET at the Stade de France," a statement from the French FA has confirmed. "The result of his Covid-19 test carried out by UEFA on Monday morning was found to be positive. He was placed away from the group after receiving the results, at the end of training, before going back to his own home in the evening. A horrific incident was recorded at Madeira Police Station in Mthatha, South Africa as a  28-year-old woman was shot dead by her husband inside the facility where she had gone to report him for domestic violence. The suspect said to be an employee of a security company was immediately apprehended and detained by the police officers after he had fired a hail of bullets. Some eyewitnesses who were in the police station at the time of the shooting, ran for their lives.  One of the eyewitnesses, Songezo Sanazo told DispatchLive;    “I was busy having my documents certified when I heard gunshots “I heard the first one and I thought it was not something serious. But I had to run for cover and hide behind the wall when I heard a second one, third and fourth while other people were running away from the yard screaming.
