  Chadwick Boseman‘s final tweet by his family announcing his death has become the most liked post in Twitter history.  The American actor, best known for playing Black Panther in the hit Marvel superhero franchise died on Friday, August 28, after a four-year battle with colon cancer. The 43-year-old died at home in Los Angeles with his wife and family by his side. In a public statement, Twitter noted how “fans are coming together on Twitter to celebrate the life of Chadwick Boseman, and the tweet sent from his account is now the most-liked tweet of all time on Twitter.” The social media giant confirmed the accolade on its own account, with the caption: “Most liked Tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever.” Twitter also brought back the “Black Panther” hashtag emoji in honor of the late actor. Currently, Boseman’s tweet has close to six million likes, surpassing Barack Obama‘s 2017 tweet (four million likes) that quoted Nelson Mandela.  ...

  As the Christian fold in Nigeria continues to argue over the relevance of the new CAMA law signed by President Buhari, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),  Rev. Samson Ayokunle, has come out to say that lack of indiscipline in many churches in Nigeria has led to acts of sexual immorality, financial impropriety, gluttony, laziness, and other vices. Speaking at the ongoing Virtual Convention of the Baptist Church on Saturday, August 29, Ayokunle said there is no difference between an unbeliever and a Christian that lacks discipline in all spheres of life.   Months after losing his wife to cancer, Senator Ben Murray Bruce, has lost his brother-in-law, Dr David Hargett, to the dreaded disease, COVID-19. Ben Bruce shared the sad news on his Twitter handle on Saturday, August 29. ''Dr David Hargett, older brother of my late Wife Evelyn died this morning from complications of COVID 19. In 5 months, three children have died. The Hargett’s had ten children. I will miss him.'' he wrote The Senator lost his wife, Evelyn, to cancer in March this year.  

  Another lady identified as Mary Daramola has been allegedly raped and killed in the Akinyele area of Ibadan, Oyo state. According to reports, Daramola who was 18 years old, was allegedly raped and killed at Alabata community, near Moniya, in Akinyele Local Government on Monday, August 24. The spokesperson of the state police command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, who confirmed the incident to The Nation, said a suspect has been arrested over the incident and that the suspect has been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for investigation. Fadeyi said the police have launched a full-scale investigation into the unfortunate incident. No fewer than five persons have been killed in the area in the last four months in very mysterious circumstances. A suspected serial killer, Shodipe Sunday, has been arrested in connection with the previous killings in the local government area.

  Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the reopening of tertiary institutions in the state effective Monday, September 14. The governor disclosed this development during a regular briefing on the state’s COVID-19 status on Saturday, August 29. During his address, the governor announced that primary and secondary schools are also tentatively scheduled to re-open from September 21. He explained that the decision to re-open schools in the state was based on indications that the pandemic has peaked in the state as the number of new cases continues to steadily decline.   “This decision is not cast in stone and is subject to review of our ongoing modelling and what procedure comes out from the Ministry of Health,” he said. He further reiterated that restaurants are now permitted to open for in-dining services in the state, although they must continue to ensure spaces are only filled up to 50 percent capacity at all times.   A pregnant woman, her two children, and one other person were killed in an accident that involved one tanker, one truck, and six motorcycles at Ikare, Akoko North-East local government in Ondo state on Saturday August 29. several persons were also injured in the accident.   According to reports, a tanker conveying diesel had a brake failure and crashed into a truck, which eventually crushed the commercial motorcyclists. The spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo, Omotola Ogungbawo, confirmed four deaths from the incident. However, eyewitnesses claim the death toll is eight. The bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited in a mourn.
